Oral Hygiene in Times of Disaster

When a disaster occurs, living in evacuation shelters where water supply is limited makes it difficult to maintain daily hygiene as usual, especially oral hygiene.

Here we will share some tips to maintain a simple oral care routine during evacuation:

In case of no toothbrush, gargle with 30 ml of water or tea after eating. You can use finger wrapped with tissue or any clean cloth to clean the stains on your teeth.
If you have toothbrush, use water instead of toothpaste for brushing. Wipe the toothbrush with clean cloth between uses and then rinse and gargle with water.
Saliva is a natural way to clean the mouth. Gently massage the area under the ears, jaw and chin (salivary glands area) to stimulate saliva. Chewing, biting or talking also help to increase saliva flow.

End-tuft Toothbrush
